Haiphong is a city and one of the major port cities and the third largest city in Vietnam which covers a total area of 1,507.57 Sq Kms and called as “The City of the Red Flamboyant” and economy of the city depends on agriculture forestry, fishing, tourism and industries and there are two universities in the city namely the Haiphong Medical University and Haiphong University.

Haiphong is surrounded by Hai Duong, Ha Long, Quang Yen, Uong Bi, Chi Linh and Hung Yen and located at the distance of 65 Kms from the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi and coordinates of Haiphong is 20.8500° N, 106.6833° E.

History of Haiphong:

Le Chan, the female general of Vietnamese was established in the Haiphong city in 43 C.E and between the years 1527 to 1592 the region was ruled by the Mac Dynasty.

In the year 1881, Haiphong city was shattered due the typhoon which claimed many lives in the city.

French captured the city and established the naval base in the city and it was Vietnam’s major ports and trading centers during the French rule. After the Second World War, Vietnam tried to regain the independence but captured by French and later it became the main industrial hub in Vietnam.

Tourism in Haiphong:

Haiphong is an industrial city and there are only few tourist places to visit in the city, as Haiphong is located on the coast tourists can visit few beaches and number of rivers flow through the city and numerous flamboyant trees are found in the city which makes its one of the beautiful sites to visit. Haiphong has mountains region as well along the coast from top of the mount one can have a great view of the endless sea.

Trang Kenh is charming mountain located in the city and this mountain is noted for its historical and archeological importance.

Do Son Beach:

This beach is located at the distance of 18 Kms from center of the city and the prominent beach among the local tourists, with clear water and fine sand.

Cat Ba National Park:

Cat Ba National Park is located at the distance of 45 Kms from the city and one of the major parks in the city which covers an area of 152.0 Sq Kms and home for wide range of rare flora and fauna.

Cat Ba Island:

This island is located at the distance of 50 Kms from Haiphong city and also well-known as the Pearl Island and this island is renowned for its charming mountains, beaches and for forest area.

By Air:

Haiphong port is the second largest port in Vietnam and port is divided into three terminals and domestic ferries ply from Ben Binh terminal to various parts of Vietnam.

By Train:

Haiphong Railway Station is located less than km from center of the city and this railway line is connected to cities and towns in Vietnam, which run from Hanoi city to Ho Chi Minh City.

By Road:

Roads are well planned and maintained in the city and there are number of bus terminals in the city which operates buses to cities and towns in Vietnam and local transportations to get around the city are taxiss, motorcycles, bicycles and minivans.
