Zarqa is a city situated in north east of capital city Amman surrounded by Syria, Israel and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as its neighboring countries. Zarqa covers a total area of 60 sq kms and lies at an elevation of 2031 feet above sea level. Zarqa is known for its industrial center that comprises of the 50% of the total factories located in Jordan. Zarqa is the second most populated city after Amman coordinating with 32.05’ degree North Latitude and 36.06’ degree East Longitude.

Zarqa History:

The first inhabitants to settle down in Zarqa are Chechen clans in the year 1902 on the banks of river Zarqa. During this year a railway station was built which transformed Zarqa into international map. In the year 1905, the Govt. issued a notice that allowed the inhabitants to own their lands to settle down and in due course of time, the population also grew in size. In the year 1926, the British Army built several military bases in Zarqa and even today the city is called as “Military City”.
