Pogradec is situated in the southeastern part of Albania country on the Coast of Ohrid Lake. Pogradec is the capital of the Pogradec district in the county of Korce with the total area of 15 square kilometers and positioned at an altitude of 697 meters (2,287 feet) above the sea level. Pogradec City is bounded by lake in east and north side and mountains on the south and west side of the city and the name of the city in the English mean “Under the Little Town”. Pogradec is situated at the distance of 128 kilometers from Tirana, the capital of Albania and the coordinates are 40.9000° N, 20.6500° E.

History of Pogradec:

Pogradec was occupied by Lychnidus populaces as early as 6000-2000 BC on the Ohrid Lake and the region of Pogradec was ruled by Romans, Bulgarians, Serbians, Albanians, Ottomans, French, Greek, Italian and Germans due to its fertile soil and abundance of natural resources along the river.
