Sarvar is a town belonging to the county of Vas in Hungary and is located about 25 km east of Szombathely (county seat) and 215 km southwest of Budapest (national capital). Sarvar is one of the best tourist destinations in Hungary known for its thermal springs, historical churches, arboretum and lake.

History of Sarvar:

The name of Sarvar is a combination of two Hungarian words, Sar and Var, meaning ‘mud’ and ‘castle’ respectively. Nadasdy Castle in Sarvar witnessed the printing of The New Testament of 1541, the 1st Hungarian book. Now the castle of Nádasdy is decorated with historical paintings depicting many special moments of Sarvar.

There is no major airport in and around Sarvar, so it is advised for tourists to reach Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport first and there are taxis always available at the airport or tourists can take bus or trains to Sarvar.
