History of Lithuania:

The history of Lithuania dates back to the 10th millennium BC when the first human settlement settled in Lithuania. On 6 July 1253, the Kingdom of Lithuania was founded which was the first united Lithuanian state, led by the King Mindaugas. During the 14^th century, Lithuania was Europe’s largest country including what are today Ukraine, Belarus and some parts of Russia and Poland. Later the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth was created in 1569 and in 1795 the Russian Empire conquered the territory of Lithuania. Lithuania once became independent in 1918 but in the following years the Soviet Union occupied it and finally Lithuanian restored its independence on 11 March 1990.
