Paksane is the capital city of Borikhamxay Province in the Central Laos. It is placed on the convergence of the River Sane and the Mekong River, about 147 km northeast of Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. The city is placed between latitude 18°2259″ in the north and longitude 103°40’01” in the east.
Borikhamxay Province is spread over an area of 14863 sq. km. The province was formed in the year 1983. Paksane is known for its Buddhist temples and modern upgraded educational institutions.

Paksane was formed as a capital of Khoueng Borikhane or Khoueng Borikhamsa in the year 1980.

Pha That Luang is a 3 layered gilded stupa situated in Vientiane and is considered as one of the most significant spiritual shrine of the country. It is open from 8 AM to 12 PM. The admission fee is 2,000 kip for Laotians and 5,000 kip for foreigners.
