History of the Agra Fort
Akbar the Mughal emperor constructed the Agra Fort. It is constructed using the red sandstone in 1654. It is the home of the military as well as the royal emperors. Akbar did the basic foundation of the Red Fort. The other Mughal emperors after Akbar like Jahangir and Shah Jahan constructed some palaces in the fort. Akbar made efforts to bring the architectures from different parts of the country. It is the blend of the Indian style of architecture. It is an example of the combination of the Hindu-Persian style of architecture.
Location
Agra Fort is in close proximity with the railway station and it lies on the banks of the River Yamuna. It is easy and comfortable for the tourists to visit this place. Approaching Agra by air is even easier and it takes you to Varanasi, Delhi and Khajuraho. There are very good bus and train facilities to travel to this monument. You can even hire the tempos, taxis, cycle rickshaws and auto rickshaws to reach this place. Reaching Red Fort in Agra is not a tough job and it is not at all tiring.
