Baku is the capital city of Azerbaijan. It is also the biggest city in Caucasus region. It is positioned on the south basin of the Absheron isthmus. The city has two main sections such as the Old Inner City and the Downtown. The title Baku is alleged to be instigated from the ancient Persian title of the city Bad-Kube which literally means “Wind walloped city”. The bad literally means “Wind” and kube that has been extracted from the word kubidan literally means “walloping” and thus brings out the meaning a spot where the air is powerful and walloping. Baku is the foremost harbor that serves Azerbaijan. The coordinates of Baku is 40°23′43″ N 49°52′56″ E and it is positioned at the elevation of −28 meters and spread across 2,130 km2 (820 sq mi) area. Baku is about 290 kms away from Azerbaijan.

Baku Museum of Modern Art

Baku Museum of Modern Art was commenced by the First Lady of Azerbaijan. The museum holds diverse articles in it. The museum has articles that dates back to the later part of the 20th century and comprises over 800 workings of some notable Azerbaijani artists and sculptors.

 

National Museum of History of Azerbaijan

National Museum of History of Azerbaijan is found at the capital city Baku. It was recognized in the year 1920. The museum houses several expositions and has been divided into the sections such as Modern history, ancient and medieval history of Azerbaijan, Ethnography, Laboratory for restoration of museum exhibits, Art design group, bibliotheca and scientific excursion. The structure has two chief galleries and each of them is based on the eastern style of architecture and western style of architecture.

Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall
