History of Kudal

Since Kudal town is located in the state of Maharashtra it is quite obvious that the town was ruled by Marathas before the British East India Company invaded the West Coast of the Indian country. In the year from 1664 to 1667, one of the great Maratha ruler, named Shivaji created the historical fort at Sindhudurg near Kudal town. Ever since then the Fort was known as Sindhudurg fort.
