Ouargla is a tourist favor city, functioning as the capital of the Ouargla Province in the southern part of Algeria. It is well known for the emerging petroleum industry and one of the reputed universities of Algeria, the University of Ouargla. Ouargla is located around 770 km southwest of Algiers, the capital of Algeria.

The geographical coordinates of Ouargla are 31°57′ north latitude and 5°19′ east longitude and its elevation measures 141 meters. Due to its position in the Sahara Desert, Ouargla features a hot desert climate with very less rainfall year round. History of Ouargla:

According to the Arab Muslim historiographer and historian, Ibn Khaldun, Banu Wargla was the founder of Ouargla, founded with the aid of the tribal groups Maghrawa and Banu Ifran.

 

How to reach Ouargla?

Ouargla hosts an airport, named Ain Beida Airport and is located around 8 km away from the heart of the city. This airport covers many important Algerian destinations like Algiers, Djanet, Illizi, In Amenas, In Salah, Oran and Timimoun, served by Air Algérie.
