Hassi Messaoud is a town situated in the province of Ouargla in Algeria between 31°42′ N latitude and 6°4′ E longitude, around 85 km southeast of the provincial capital, Ouargla and 600 km south of the national capital, Algiers. It is in the north- central part of the country, known for the oil reserves and home to the base of many large oil and gas companies.

Hassi Messaoud is spread over a total area of 71,237 sq. km holding seven localities such as Centre Ville Hassi Messaoud, Haoud El Hamra, Gassi Touil, Nezla, Oued Tayeh, El Gassi and Irara.
