Omoa is a town located in Cortes Department in Honduras in Central America is situated on the Coast of Caribbean Sea. Omoa is know both for its small town and municipality along the North West part of the Honduras and covers an area of 382.8 square kilometers. Economy of Omoa depends on fishing and framing and number of boats and more than hundred fishermen in the town, and Omoa is surrounded by Puerto Cortes, Rio Blanquito, La Jutosa, El Zapotal, Choloma Cuyamel and San Pedro Sula. Omoa is located at the distance of 312 kilometers from middle of the town and coordinates of Omoa are 15.7641° N, 88.0374° W.
History of Omoa:
Omoa was the small Pueblo de indios town along with the Indian town of Chachaguala in the year 1536 and due to the continuous pirate raids on the Caribbean Coast of Central America and in the year 1590, Spanish General of Guatemala found the new coast to export the goods to Spain.
In the year 1752, Omoa was established as the Spanish colonial town and had planned to develop the Omoa which includes hospital, a church, and warehouse to develop the town. In the year 1779, British captured the town and burned more than 200 buildings. Omoa was occupied by Indians, Spanish, enslaved Africans, mulattos, and free blacks in the 18th century and several developments occurred in the town and was the major port of Honduras country for several years.

San Fernando fort was constructed in the 18th century with many striking features and construction was started in the year 1752 and ended in the year 1775. It is one of the major tourism spots in the Omoa town.
