Haldwani is a city as well as the famous tourist destination situated in Nainital District of Uttarkhand state in India. It is the 3^rd most populous city in Uttarakhand situated about 270 kms southeast of the state capital Dehradun.

Haldwani falls under Haldwani-Kathgodam Municipal Corporation and the city is located between 29.22° N latitude and 79.52°E longitude. The Postal code of Haldwani is 263139 and Haldwani is positioned about 424 meters from the mean level of sea.

Origin and History of Haldwani:-

Haldwani was earlier known as Halduvani. Haldwani derives its name from the larger existence of Haldu Trees in this region. After British beaten Gorkhas Kingdoms in 1816, Commissioner George William Trail renamed Halduvani as Haldwani in 1834. Also Haldwani witnessed the rule of Chand Dynasty, Mughal Empire and Delhi Sultanate.
