Cuba is an islet country in the Caribbean and officially called as the Republic of Cuba. Cuba is located between the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean covers an area of 42,426 square miles (109,884 square kilometers) making Cuba largest island in the Caribbean. Havana is the capital of Cuba and surrounded by Bahamas, Haiti, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Florida (U.S) and Belize country. Coordinates of Cuba are 22.0000° N, 79.5000° W. The Cuban economy is mainly based on tobacco production, sugar industry, tourism, agriculture, fishing and oil production.

 

History of Cuba:

Before the settlement of Spanish colonies in Cuba, it was settled by Native American populace called as the Taino. Christopher Columbus was the first to land on Cuba Island in the year 1492 and claimed the island for Spain. Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar established the first settlement in Cuba in 1511 and in 1548 Gonzalo Perez de Angulo was the new governor of Cuba. In the year 1868, Cuba became an independent country for Spain but United States captured the island. War was fought between Spain and America to capture the island but both the nations signed the Treaty of Paris and Cuba became an independent country in the year 1902.

Teatro de La Caridad:

Teatro de La Caridad is the national monument of Cuba constructed in the year 1885 located in the Santa Clara city which represents the colonial era and one of the 8th grand theaters of Cuban colonial period.

 

Valle de los Ingenios:

Valle de Los Ingenios is a historical site where tourists can explore 70 historic sugar mills lining this valley just outside Trinidad. Tower near the mill provides excellent view of the nearby mountains and beaches.

 

Alejandro de Humboldt National Park:

Alejandro de Humboldt National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site, the heart of the Cuchillas Del Toa Biosphere Reserve, an extensively documented as the best preserved mountainous ecological unit in the Caribbean, it is full of assorted flora and fauna.
