Moyo is a town under Moyo District in the Northern Uganda region of the African country, Uganda. It houses district headquarters and is situated around 140 kilometers from the town of Arua and 455 kilometers from Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda. Geographically Moyo is located at an elevation of 820 meters between 03°39′18″ N latitude and 31°43′12″ E longitude.

Moyo is relatively an upgraded town housing an airport, campus of Uganda Martyrs University, bank branches, including of Stanbic Bank and many modernized shops and restaurants. Moyo is located around 7 km from Uganda’s border with South Sudan.

Connectivity to Moyo:

Moyo Airport is located around 6 km southeast of the heart of Moyo, served by Eagle Air Uganda with scheduled flights to/from Entebbe International Airport, the most important airport of Uganda. Minibuses generally ply between the airport and town centre, although they are not safe, visitors are advised to choose the rental car for comfortable, safe and convenient airport travel.

Moyo is located around 455 km from Kampala, visitors would have to change buses while traveling between these two cities.

The Otze Forest White Rhino Sanctuary is situated around 15 km east of Moyo town. Like its name, the sanctuary is mainly noted for its substantial number of white rhino population. It can be explored best through a guided tour.

River Nile:

The River Nile flows around 30 km south of Moyo, where visitors can involve themselves in sightseeing, swimming, fishing and many other enjoyable outdoor activities. There is also a direct road link connecting Moyo to the river.

Mount Kei White Rhino Sanctuary:

Located around 75 km west of Moyo, the Mount Kei White Rhino Sanctuary is a well known white rhino sanctuary in the northwestern Uganda on the border with South Sudan. It is worth a trip.

Moyo Central Market:

Like most central markets in Uganda, the Moyo Central Market is also famous for offering a wide selection of African handicraft products, clothes and traditional medicine. It is also one of the important landmarks of the town.
