In 13^th century, the region was invaded by the Mongols and hence the Turkmens migrated to the south of Turkmenistan. From 16^th to 18^th century, these Turkmens tribe terrorized neighboring regions. The late 19^th century witnessed the Russian army conquering most parts of Turkmenistan.
