The Valkenburg Castle was originally constructed in the year 1115 by Lord of Valkenburg, Gosewijn I. It was two times demolished in 1122 and 1672 by Henry V, Holy Roman Emperor and William III, Dutch troops leader in respectively. Currently it is in ruined condition, allowed for tourists’ visit.
