The history of Bonn goes back to the 1st century BC when it was originally founded. It served as the capital of the Electorate of Cologne between 1597 and 1794 and West Germany’s de facto capital between 1949 and 1990, and later, between 1990 and 1999 as the capital of Germany. Constructed between the 11th and 13th centuries in Romanesque architecture, the Bonn Minster is one of the oldest churches in Germany, located in the heart of the city. It is open from 7AM-7PM.

The Bonn Museum of Modern Art or Kunstmuseum Bonn was founded in the year 1947 and is located at Friedrich-Ebert-Allee 2. Tourists are allowed between 11AM – 6PM (Tuesday-Sunday) and 11AM – 9PM (Wednesday). The entrance fee is €3.
