History of Cali:

Cali was populated by indigenous tribes before the arrival of Spanish in the region. Colombia was founded by Sebastian de Belalcazar in the year 1498 and Cali was established in the year 1536 was the part of gobernacion of Popayan during the colonial era. Cali town was located near Cali River and populated by haciendas until the 18^th century. In the year 1810, independence revolution was started in the region with the help of Junta Suprema, in the year 1822 Cali became independent from colonial rule.
