Cesis is a town situated in the northern portion of the Central Vidzeme Upland in Latvia, around 90 km northeast of Riga, the capital of Latvia. The town of Cesis is the administrative centre of Cesis municipality, known for its historical castle and is surrounded by many summer houses.

Cesis is one of the oldest towns in Latvia as it was founded in the 13^th century. The St. John’s Church and the Cēsis Castle ruins are the most important historical structures of Cesis.

Riga International Airport is the most important airport of Latvia and the closest airport to Cesis, located about 95 km from the midpoint of Cesis. Constructed by Livonian Brothers of the Sword in the 13th century, the Cesis Castle is the most important tourist attraction in Cesis and was earlier the official house for the masters of the Livonian Order. There is a Victory monument in Union square of Cesis and was erected for the victory of Latvian forces over the German forces.
