Welcome to the springy Hebbe falls
One of the most important spots, which attract the tourists most, is Hebbe falls in Chikamagalur district, in the western part of Karnataka. It is only 240 kms from Bangalore and the nearest hill station, Kemmangundi is only 8 kms away. The nearest town is Tarikere, which is only 35 kms away from Kemmangundi.
Hebbe falls used to be the retreat of the Wodeyar ruler, Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, during the months of summer. Gardens and mountains surround the falls, coffee plantation and dense forests lay all around the area of Hebbe falls. You will find a large variety of flora and fauna over here.
The falls surge down from a height of 250 feet from the mountains in two tracks. On its half-way it hits a rock projection and breaks into the second track, thus giving the tourists a magnificent view. The former, bigger fall is known as Dodda Hebbe and the latter, smaller one is known as Chikka Hebbe.
It is also an attractive picnic spot, with cool breeze blowing all around you and the water spraying around. If you take a dip in the water, your body will get refreshed, as the falls is infused by herbs. Thus, taking a dip is curative, as well as pleasurable. The medicinal power of the herbal water cures different skin ailments and common cold. Along with your body your mind and soul will also get refreshed. You can also go for trekking in the woods and explore the river spots. The falls and its surroundings will intoxicate your mind and will captivate you in its beautiful greenery. You will not find it easy to come back.
The best time to visit here is during winter. It only takes 8 hours to come from Bangalore by road. You will be mesmerized by the picturesque beauty of Hebbe falls and its surroundings.
