Jurong is one of the largest towns situated in west of Singapore mostly consisting of residential colonies having splendid amenities, good infrastructure, shopping malls, healthcare and known for rich culture and cuisines. Jurong Meaning & History:

Jurong is derived from Malay word “Jerung” which means a shark. Initially Jurong was a dense jungle covered with low hills, marshy and swampy lands and was sparsely inhabited. But gradually things took a dramatic step in the late 60’s and 70’s where many small industrial estates and housing colonies started to bloom in this place. Presently, Jurong is one of the fast emerging localities in Singapore which has become a residential as well as commercial hub in Singapore known for shopping centers, sports, good road connectivity, education, healthcare centers.

Singapore Science Center:

The Science Center has a seating capacity of 50 visitors and conducts star gazing sessions to the public.

Snow City:

Snow City is another tourist attraction located within the premises of Science Center where the tourists can experience real snow, a sub freezing climate and high snow slope. The tourists are allowed to enter a chamber where the minimum temperature is set at -5 degrees. The Snow Center has skiing and snowboarding facilities and has snow play area along with wind and dine facilities.

Singapore Discovery Center:

This is one of the widely visited museums in Jurong which has many collections of artifacts, statues, paintings, tools, weapons and equipments that were used in the war by Singapore Army. The Discovery Center also displays model aircrafts and has a mini theater.

Singapore Army Museum:

Singapore Army Museum has large collections of artifacts, weapons, tools which were used by the Singapore Army during war. The museum also has model aircrafts, warships, fighter planes which are kept for public display. The museum attracts many tourists all round the year.

Jurong Bird Park:

Jurong Bird Park is one of the major tourist attractions of Singapore spread over 50 acres of land. The Bird Park has more than 50 rare species of birds and has world tallest artificial waterfalls. Tourists visiting the park can have a glimpse of some rare species of birds like Night Herons, Ostriches, Emus, Hornbills, Storks, Ducks, Penguins, Doves, Pigeons, Sea Gulls, Flamingos and Pelicans.
