History of Kalisz:

Kalisz is the oldest city of Poland and during 9^th and 12^th centuries Piast dynasty ruled the region. During the German rule in the city from 1253 and 1260 it became one the richest towns of Greater Poland and in the year 1314, the city became the capital of Kalisz region. First college in the city was Jesuit College in the year 1574 and was the renowned colleges in Poland. The city was devastated in the fire in the year 1792 and reconstructed later. Kalisz became the part of independent Poland and new city hall was opened in the year 1925.
