Kalkan is a town situated on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey between 36°15.4870′ N latitude and 29°24.4987′ E longitude, around 200 km southwest of the largest international summer resort of Turkey, Antalya and 830 km south of the Istanbul, the capital of Turkey. It is a popular holiday destination widely renowned for beaches, especially for Patara Beach & Kaputaş Beach, and the town is also famous among tourists for its historical sites including Tlos and Kekova.

History of Kalkan:

Until the outcome of the Greco-Turkish War, Kalkan was inhabited by the higher majority of Greeks and the war resulted into the exchange of people between Greek and Turky in 1923. Kalkan has been the prominent harbor town since the early 20^th century, once it was declined with the construction of Fethiye road but the town regained its prominence with the boom of tourism industry.

Connectivity to Kalkan:

Kalkan is not served by airport, so international tourists are needed to reach Dalaman Airport first and then take bus or airport taxi or pre-booked car to reach Kalkan. The Dalaman Airport is situated in Dalaman, around 125 km northwest of Kalkan and operates flights to all over Europe including the cities of Istanbul, Ankara, Cologne, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Glasgow, London and Manchester.

By bus, Kalkan is connected to Istanbul, Izmir, Afyon, Fethiye, Antalya and other Turkish destinations.
