Kinsale is a town situated 28 kilometers away from Cork city along the coast in Cork County in Ireland. History of Kinsale:

Kinsale was established as the town under an agreement decided by King Edward III of England in the year 1333 and the corporation existed for over 500 years. Battle between English and Irish forces occurred in Kinsale town in the year 1601 in which English forces defeated Irish and Spanish forces. In the year 1677, Charles Fort was constructed to guard the entrance to Kinsale harbor by French and Spanish forces and James’s Fort was used during the times of war to scamper enemy ships.

Desmond Castle:

Desmond Castle is situated in the middle of the town is a well preserved tower house and renowned locally as the French Prison because in the year 1747, nearly 54 French Prisoners died in the fire accident in the castle. Castle is open from April to October and closed from November to mid April.

 

Kinsale Regional Museum:

Kinsale Regional Museum is one of the best museums in the county situated less than kilometers distance from center of the town is one of the interesting museums constructed around 1600 and the museum showcases the domestic and maritime history, open from Monday to Saturday from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
