Konya is the 7th largest city of Turkey in terms of population, situated in the region of Central Anatolia between 37°52′ N latitude and 32°29′ E longitude, around 300 km northeast of Antalya, 260 km south of Ankara, the capital of Turkey and 710 km southeast of the country’s largest city, Istanbul. Konya is home to the Neolithic settlement Çatalhöyük which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2012.

Konya has a strong historical background served as the capital of the Karamanids and the Anatolian Seljuk Sultanate. The Mevlana Museum or Mausoleum of Rumi is the tomb of Mawlana Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi or simply Rumi who was the famous mystic and sufi. The museum showcases his full life story with his belongings and other objects related to him. It is open for visitors from 9AM to 5PM.
Iplikçi Mosque:
13th century mosque from the Seljuk period, the Iplikçi Mosque is situated amid of the Mevlana Museum and downtown Konya. It was reconstructed around 50 years ago and is open for visitors without any entrance fee.
Ince Minare Museum:
The Ince Minare Museum is open from 8:30AM-12:30PM and 1:30PM-5:30PM (Tuesday-Sunday). İnce Minare is a madrasah building of the 13th century used as a museum to describe the Seljuk and Ottoman rule in the city with great collection of artifacts.
Alaaddin Hill:
The Alaaddin Hill is a manmade hill situated to the right of the centre of the city. This umbrella shaped hill was constructed by the Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat. A typical one.
