Kuantan is the capital city of the state of Pahang lying on the banks of river Kuantan facing the South China Sea. Kuantan History:

Initially Kuantan was called as Kampung Teruntum as the region consisted of number of villages located on the banks of river Teruntum. Kuantan was ruled by Chih-Tu Empire during 11^th century and later by Siamese rulers during 12^th century. It was ruled by Malacca Empire in 15^th century and the locals believe that the city was founded in the year 1850. The Chinese arrived in Kuantan in 19^th century which led to formation and establishment of many townships and trading activities.
