Liquica is a coastal city situated between 8°35′ south latitude and 125°21′ east longitude in Liquica District in East Timor. It is positioned on the northern coast of Timor-Leste and about 32 away from Dili, the capital of East Timor.

Liquica is one of the prime tourist centres in East Timor. Beautiful beaches are the major identities of the Liquica and also Liquica is rich in mineral resource and gold. Liquica houses several coffee plantations all around the district.

Liquica District is spread over an area of 543 sq. km. and shares its borders with Dili District on the east, Ermera District in the south, Bobonaro District towards southwest and Aileu District in the southeast.

History of Liquica:

During the Indonesian rule in East Timor, they constructed several high-rise buildings in Liquica and later destroyed during the 1999 East Timor war movement. Now there are very few monuments of Portuguese and Indonesian period in Liquica.

Dutch Fort is situated at the gateway of Maubara Village in Liquica District. It is located about 15 kms away from the heart of Liquica City and is still in good condition and the architecture of the fort is the main highlight.
