Mdina was originally inhabited around 4000 BC, according to the archeological findings. It witnessed the rule of many renowned empires including the Normans and the Romans in the past. Some historical landmarks in Mdina include the St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Vilhena Palace, the St. Nicholas’ Chapel and the Palazzo Falson.
Connectivity to Mdina:
The Malta International Airport is the airport serving Mdina along with other Maltese towns and cities with international flights to Madrid, Marseille, Pisa, London, Bergamo, Birmingham, Hamburg, Istanbul and many other important European cities. This airport is situated about 10 km away from the centre of the Mdina town.
Malta is connected Valletta, Sliema, St. Julians and many other major Maltese towns by regular bus services. From Valletta, it takes around 30 minutes by bus to reach Mdina.
Note: only local cars are allowed within the Mdina town for some internal reasons. So reaching Mdina by bus will be better for visitors.
