History of Pereira:
Pereira was settled by Quimbaya who were identified for their artworks in gold before the establishment of European colonies. In the year 1540, Spanish first established settlement in Pereira region and after the defeat of Simon Bolivar and his army José Francisco Pereira and Manuel Pereira took shelter in Pereira region. Due to its favored location and fertile soil and pleasant weather, high quality coffee is grown in the region.
