Cahul coordinates with 45°55′ N latitude and 28°11′ E longitude, is situated 119 meters above sea level, about 165 km south-southwest of Chisinau, the capital of Moldova.

History of Cahul:

Cahul was earlier called by the different names like Scheia, and Frumoasa, and the present name is derived from the Battle of Kagu. Cahul was the site of many battles fought between the Russian Empire, the Principality of Moldavia, and Ottoman Empire. It also witnessed the rule of all these empires along with other Moldovan cities in the past.
