History of Aix En Provence:
Aix En Provence was established by the Roman consul Sextius Calvinus in 123 BC and 102 BC, Battke if Aquae Sextiae was fought between Gaius Marius and Cimbri in the city. Aix En Provence became the city of Narbonensis Secunda and in 477, it was captured by Visigoths and later invaded by Saracens in 731 and in 737 and later captured by Charles Martel. The city was ruled by France from 1487 and Louis XII established the parliament in Provence in the year 1501.
