Jarvenpaa is a town and municipality in the region of Uusimaa in Finland covering a total area of 39.94 sq. km. The municipality of Jarvenpaa comprises of 25 neighborhoods and some of the major neighborhoods are Pietila, Wartsila, Jamppa, Saunakallio, Loutti, Terhola, Mikonkorpi, Keskus, Satukallio and Lepola.

Jarvenpaa is situated on the Helsinki–Riihimaki railway line between 60°28.5′ N latitude and 025°05.5′ E longitude, around 40 km north of the national capital, Helsinki. Tuusula, Sipoo and Mantsala are other cities around Jarvenpaa.

History of Jarvenpaa:

Jarvenpaa was founded as a market town by carving out from the city Tuusula in 1951. Jarvenpaa officially gained the status of town in 1967. Jarvenpaa was the site of Ainola which was the residence of Finnish composer of the late Romantic music, Jean Sibelius.

Ainola:

Ainola is an identity of Jarvenpaa as it was the residence of Jean Sibelius (1865 –1957) who was the renowned Finnish composer, who lived in Ainola from 1904 to 1957. Lars Sonck was the designer of the houses and currently, Ainola has been changed into Museum of Sibelius which is allowed for tourists in the months of summer.

Varbacka:

Varbacka was the house of famous Finnish author and journalist, Juhani Aho who shifted to Varbacka in Jarvenpaa in 1897 with Venny Soldan-Brofeldt (wife of him) and resided for 14 years. Varbacka is situated in the vicinity of Tuusula Lake.

Lake Tuusula:

Placed on the boundary of Tuusula and Jarvenpaa municipalities, Lake Tuusula measures a maximum length of 8 km and an average depth of 3.2 meters with a surface area of square kilometers.
