Jinotega is a city and the capital of the Jinotega department in a Nicaragua country in Central America and Jinotega is situated towards the north central region of the country. Jinotega covers an area of 247.36 square miles (640.65 square kilometers) and economy of the country depends on coffee and cash crops grown in the region and coffee is supplied to several parts of the country and in Central America as well. Jinotega is located at the distance of 142 kilometers from the Managua, the capital of Nicaragua and coordinates of Jinotega are 13.1000° N, 86.0000° W.
History of Jinotega:
Jinotega was known as the Indian city before the arrival of Spanish and until the year 1581, the region was famed as the Indian town. In the year 1731, Spanish settlement was established in the town with a small number of Juan de Castro and few others. The region of Jinotega was sited in the remote location and situated on the border of Honduras and most of the battles were fought in the region between the years 1927 and 1934.
