History of Nimes:

Nimes was the sight of Neolithic tribes around 4000 to 3500 BC and population of the region increased during the Bronze Age. Roman colonies were established in the region during 28 BC and during the Augustus rule in the region; he made the Nimes as the capital of Narbonne province and enjoyed the prosperous until the 3^rd century. After the fall of Roman’s Goths ruled the region and in 725, Umayyads, the Muslim ruler captured the region and in 737, Charles Martel invaded the region and destroyed most of the Roman architecture. Nimes was prospered from 17^th century and population grew gradually.
