Ranipet is a Valley in Tamil Nadu, India. It is a community and a business center to Vellore City. Ranipet houses numerous leather industries and is renowned for the same. History of Ranipet
The history of Ranipet dates back to the later part of 17th century approximately around the year 1771. The vale was instigated by Sadullakhan as a respect for the widow of Desingh Raja of Gingee. It is believed that she performed the ritual of Sati upon her spouse’s demise.
The vale came to light when the British constructed their garrisons here. Navlakh Bagh which is very eminent in Ranipet houses around 9 lakh trees.

Vellore Fort
The Vellore fortification was previously the command center of the Vijayanagara kingdom. Built during the 16th century it used to be the biggest fortress in Vellore. This stronghold has one of the most excellent martial structural designs in Southern India. The citadel is also recognized for its parapets, trench and stonework.
Church of South India (CSI)
This church in Ranipet is one of the major churches in the section and is approximately 150 years old. Close up to the church is a necropolis where in the dead bodies of the deceased British soldiers have been masked in the event of Sepoy Mutiny.
French Bungalow
The French Bungalow was constructed by Srinivasa Iyer. It is the most important landmark. The bungalow was chiefly built to serve the residential needs of the prince and his family. Due to bad preservation the beautiful bungalow has turned into mere remnants. It has a brass scaffold and the walls are made of sandstone and marble. In the beginning the edifice had a wooden covering, servant lodgings with kitchens and a storage area. Inside the grounds of the bungalow there is a huge ground water system that acted as a Roman bathe.
Sri Selva Vinayagar Temple
Sri Selva Vinayagar shrine is positioned just about 29 km from the city. Somasundareswarar and Sri Selva Vinayagar are the seated divinities of this shrine.
Balamathi
Balamathi is renowned for its Balamurugan shrine and is a small town positioned at the crest of the Eastern Ghats.
