Shah Alam History:
Formerly Shah Alam was called as Sungai Renggam and was known for rubber and oil palm estates and industries. Gradually Sungai Renggam was replaced by Shah Alam as it was named after late father Sultan Alam Shah, father of the former Sultan of Selangor. Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia after it achieved independence from the British in the year 1957 and in the year 2000 Shah Alam was granted the city status by the Mayor of Malaysia.
