Speightstown also called as Little Bristol is a town located towards the northern side of Saint Peter parish of Barbados, about 19 kms away from the capital city of the country, Bridgetown.
Geography of Speightstown:
Speightstown is located at an altitude of 11 meters between the coordinates 13°15′16″ N latitude and 59°38′27″ W longitude.
History of Speightstown:
Speightstown was named in the honor of one of the members of the first Assembly of Barbados and he was also the owner of the site, the present Speightstown. Earlier Speightstown served as the major commercial centre of Barbados with first port of the country. Currently Speightstown is one of the prime tourist locations of Barbados with beaches, entertainment centres and bar and restaurants.

Along with other Barbadian towns, Speightstown is also served by only airport of the country, Grantley Adams International Airport which is located in Seawell of Christ Church with scheduled air services to and from major Canadian, European, Caribbean and USA’s cities. The prominent airlines that serve GAIA include JetBlue Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways, American Airlines, Caribbean Airlines and Air Canada.
There are regular public buses and private-run mini vans plying between Bridgetown and Speightstown through Holetown. Sometimes 12P number bus operates services to airport.
