Ayuthaya is also called as Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya in Ayuthaya Province in Thailand and it covers an area of 14.84 Sq Kms. Ayuthaya is situated on the banks of River Chao Phraya and Ayuthaya is situated at the meeting point of three rivers by name Chao Phraya River, Lopburi River and Pa Sak River and Ayuthaya is famed for its historical sites.

Ayuthaya is bounded by Suphan Buri, Ang Thong, Saraburi, Lopburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Pathum Thani and Sing Buri and it is located at the distance of 84 Kms from the capital of Thailand, Bangkok and coordinates of Ayuthaya is 14.3500° N, 100.5833° E.

 

History of Ayuthaya:

Ayuthaya was established in the year 1350 by Siamese Kingdom and it was the capital of the kingdom and it was world’s biggest cosmopolitan urban area during 14th to 18th century. In the year 1767, Burmese army attacked the city and destroyed the whole city and inhabitants were force to leave the city after this incident the city was never renovated. At present this city is recognized as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

By Train:

Ayuthaya is served by Bang Pa-in Railway Station, located 19 Kms away from the middle of the city and this railway line is well connected to various places in Thailand and tourists can avail regular train service from Bangkok.

By Sea:

Speed boats and cruise boats are available from Bangkok to Ayuthaya City and there are two major stops in the city Ko Kret and Bang Pa-In where tourists need to get down and to avail these services tourists must book in advance.
