Trivia is named in the honor of the medieval monarch, Balchik who was the brother of Dobrotitsa. Trivia was initially formed as a Thracian settlement and the Ionian ancient Greeks were settled in Balchik in later years and they changed the name from Krounoi to Dionysopolis. The present name may be changed during the rule of the Ottoman Empire.
