Chaghcharan is a town located in Ghor Province lying at an elevation of 2230 meters above sea level on the banks of river Hari. Chaghcharan is connected to Herat to the west and Kabul towards the east by highway stretching over 380 kms. The town consists of inhabitants who belong to Aimag, Hazaras and Tajiks group of community its coordination lies at 34.31’21” degree North Latitude and 65.15’6” degree East Longitude.

History of Chaghcharan:

Formerly Chaghcharan consisted of many different religions until Islam came into existence in the 10^th century brought by Sultan Muhmad of Ghazni. After the fall of Ghaznavids, the town fell into the hands of Ghurids in 12^th century. Chaghcharan was invaded by Mongols in 13^th century and later was taken over by Timur dynasty during 14^th century. It is also said that Babur visited this place during 1507 on his way to Kabul.
