Fregate Island is one of the private islands belonging to the African country, Seychelles, in the Indian Ocean, located between 4°35′ S latitude and 55°56′ E longitude, around 55 km east of the main island of Seychelles, Mahe. It comes under the granitic Inner Islands group, covering an area of 2.19 square kilometers. Fregate Island is a heaven for water sport lovers and its Anse Victorin beach got a dignity of the Best Beach of the World, considered by The Times. Fregate Island received its name from its opulent population of frigatebirds, assigned by the explorer Lazare Picault.
