Haiphong is a city and one of the major port cities and the third largest city in Vietnam which covers a total area of 1,507.57 Sq Kms and called as “The City of the Red Flamboyant” and economy of the city depends on agriculture forestry, fishing, tourism and industries and there are two universities in the city namely the Haiphong Medical University and Haiphong University.
Haiphong is surrounded by Hai Duong, Ha Long, Quang Yen, Uong Bi, Chi Linh and Hung Yen and located at the distance of 65 Kms from the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi and coordinates of Haiphong is 20.8500° N, 106.6833° E.
History of Haiphong:
Le Chan, the female general of Vietnamese was established in the Haiphong city in 43 C.E and between the years 1527 to 1592 the region was ruled by the Mac Dynasty.
In the year 1881, Haiphong city was shattered due the typhoon which claimed many lives in the city.
French captured the city and established the naval base in the city and it was Vietnam’s major ports and trading centers during the French rule. After the Second World War, Vietnam tried to regain the independence but captured by French and later it became the main industrial hub in Vietnam.

Haiphong is an industrial city and there are only few tourist places to visit in the city, as Haiphong is located on the coast tourists can visit few beaches and number of rivers flow through the city and numerous flamboyant trees are found in the city which makes its one of the beautiful sites to visit. Haiphong has mountains region as well along the coast from top of the mount one can have a great view of the endless sea.

Cat Ba Island:
This island is located at the distance of 50 Kms from Haiphong city and also well-known as the Pearl Island and this island is renowned for its charming mountains, beaches and for forest area.
