History of Maldonado:

In the year 1755, Maldonado was established under the guidance of Joaquin de Viana who was the governor of Montevideo and named as Maldonado. The region was renamed in the honor of King Ferdinand VI of Spain as San Fernando de Maldonado and before the independence of the Uruguay, Maldonado turned city.
