Paradise Island (earlier known as Hog Island) is an island located in Bahamas, just off the shore of Nassau, the capital of Bahamas. It belongs to New Providence Island covering an area of 685 acres, is famous for its Atlantis Paradise Island resort and waterpark. There are two well constructed bridges that connect Paradise Island with New Providence Island.

History of Paradise Island:

Swedish entrepreneur Axel Wenner-Gren owned Paradise Island before the World War II with name, Hog Island. Later it was purchased by Huntington Hartford from Axel Wenner-Gren during 1959 and he renamed Paradise Island. Sol Kerzner purchased Paradise Island for $125 million, the presente owner of the island.

How to reach Paradise Island?

Lyndon Pindling International Airport is the nearest airport to Paradise Island with scheduled flights to Holguin, Miami, Havana, Panama City, Fort Lauderdale, Toronto and most of the Canadian, European, Caribbean and USA cities. Tourists are needed to take taxi to reach harbor of Nassau and then take water taxi or boats from there to reach Paradise Island.

There is no public transport in Paradise Island, but taxis, cars and minivans are always ready to serve the tourists. Advance booking is offered, book through online or directly visit local travel offices.
