Tamale is a Ghanaian town situated in the Northern Region of the country, between 09°24′27″ N latitude and 00°51′12″ W longitude, about 600 km north of Accra, the capital of Ghana.  Tamale lies at an elevation of 150 meters, covering an area of 750 sq. km. Tamale is one of the fastest developing towns in West Africa with the substantial upgradation in infrastructure, sports venues and education. In recent years, many large scale companies have set up their branches in Tamale.

As like the rest of Ghana, Tamale experiences rainy season from April to September while the remaining months of the year cover dry season. Tamale receives an annual rainfall of 1100 mm per year.

 

History of Tamale:

Tamale began to develop before the British rule in the country that led it to become the capital of Northern region. The residential neighborhood of Tamale what is today’s Dagbangdabi-phong geared up towards development around the palace of the Gulkpe naa.

Tamale Stadium:

The Tamale Stadium is one of the identities of Tamalem having a capacity of holding more than 20,000 spectators. Central Shi’a Mosque:

The Central Shi’a Mosque is reserved for Muslim natives, mainly for Shi’a community. It is in the downtown of Tamale city, featuring creamy yellow color.

 

Ahmadiyya Mosque:

The Ahmadiyya Mosque is a white colored mosque, having two towers each side of the structure. Other than exterior and interior designs, the mosque is also famous among visitors for its holiness.

 

Mole National Park:

Located around 130 km west of Tamale, the Mole National Park is the largest wildlife reserve of Ghana, covering an area of 4840 sq. km. Established in 1958, the park houses affluent faunal and floral species including 93 mammal species. Elephants are highlights.

 

University for Development Studies:

The University for Development Studies is one of the prominent public universities of Ghana, founded in 1992 in Tamale. It holds five campuses in different location and including animal science and pharmaceutical courses, the university offers dozens of latest courses.
