Tourist Places to Visit in Xiamen, China, Asia

Xiamen is sited on the Asian continent in the southeast coastal region of China and place is controlled by the Fujian province. Xiamen has more than 600 financial institutions along with industrial zone like Xiamen Export Processing Zone, Xiamen Haicang Taiwanese Investment Zone, Xinglin Taiwan Merchants Development Zone, Torch Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and Xiamen Xiangyu Free Trade Zone. The geographical coordinates puts the place at 24.4600° N, 118.0789° E. Xiamen spans over an area of 1,565 km².

History of Xiamen:

Jin dynasty ruled Xiamen in 282 and during 960 to 1279 A.D the place was ruled by the Song dynasty. Trade between faraway lands flourished in Xiamen with ships arriving at the ports. In the year 1387, the place was under the rule of the Ming dynasty. During this period a fort was built to guard the region against invaders. In 1644, the Ming dynasty was overthrown by rebels. The year 1660 saw the arrival of the Dutch in Taiwan. In the year 1680, the Manchus conquered Xiamen region. The year 1541 witnessed the arrival of the Portuguese traders in the region. The British established their supremacy in the entire region of Xiamen, during the first Opium War, which led the Chinese Imperial ruler to sign a treaty with the British.

At the time of the Second World War, the Japanese forces invaded Xiamen and maintain control from the period 1938 to 1945. After the end of the Second World War, the Communist Army took control of the place. In the year 1980, the place was declared a Special Economic Zone.

Nanputuo Temple:

Naputuo Temple is devoted to Lord Buddha outside the Xiamen University and behind the temple there is a mount where tourists can get into the top to view the magnificent view of surroundings.

Hulishan Fortress:

This fortress is constructed in Ming and Qing dynasty style in the year 1894 and water fountain from the left side of the wall.

Lam Soon Crocodile Farm:

This farm is home for numerous crocodile and the farm was started with small pool and visit by number of tourists.

Water Garden Expo Park:

This park is home for various exhibition parks like island, ecological landscapes, peninsulas and Education Park.

Means of Commutation to Xiamen:

Xiamen has a well connected railway network. There two railway stations in Xiamen namely

Xiamen Gaoqi Railway Station situated in Huli
Xiamen North Railway Station situated in Jimei

There are high speed trains travelling through these railway stations to places like Nanjing, Hefei, Nanchang, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Fuzhou, Longyan, Yingtan and other places to the west and southwest of Xiamen.

Xiamen is well connected via airways to places across the globe. The Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport caters to flights arriving and departing to and fro places around the globe.

Xiamen is also connected via waterways to places located in the coastal regions of China country. There is a Ferry, commuting travelers to Jinmen.
